Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte or Mon Laferte, is one of my favorite latina singers. She was born on May 2, 1983 in Viña del Mar, Chile. She started a music career at the early age of 13. She sings a mix of rock, blues, pop, bolero, electronic, Latin alternative, indie pop alternative rock and more. She released her first studio album named La Chica de Rojo in 2003. In 2009, unfortunately, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. In 2007, Mon Laferte moved to Mexico City, where she began anew with her own songs and music, obtaining a successful career in Mexico popularity around South America.
Mon Laferte has an interesting voice, it has a vintage feel to it. Her music and style also has that feel to it. In my opinion, her style reminds me of a mix of Amy Winehouse and Selena Quintanilla. Mon is an inspiration to me for her musical ability. She plays guitar and sings, and I look up to her talent, being a musician myself. She has so much confidence in her music.
I first heard a song of hers titled Tu Falta de Querer, and it was my style of music. I've been told by my sisters that I have a similar voice to hers, except I would say mine is quieter and definitely not as experienced and nice. I enjoy playing her music often and listening and singing to it. It's been one of my hobbies recently. I would recommend her music if you like that kind of thing.
